I still remember my first Computer Science class like it was yesterday.
It was a 6th Grade Coding in Scratch Elective, and while I knew virtually nothing about programming, I was excited, interested, but most of all, nervous.
However, little did my 11-year-old self know that amidst being one of only three girls in a class of 20 people, this marked the beginning of a journey—a long, knowledge-filled, and captivating one into the field of computer science.
Welcome to the CTRL Code Blog: "Bytes of Insight". (In many ways, my digital journal, where curiosity meets exploration.)
In my first class, I remember staring at my school’s computer screen, watching my cursor constantly blink and await my command. Coding seemed like a foreign language to me—one only reserved for a few.
But as time passed, simple foreign lines of code transformed into distinct words, sentences, and even stories—each one creating an amazing program that showcased my creativity.
Looking back, I realize that beyond the technical complexities, I discovered something more important in my ongoing journey with programming—a sense of empowerment and a belief in my ability.
That is why I started CTRL Code.
I want youth who know virtually nothing about coding like I did to be able to experience similar transformative journeys—but most of all, if even one child can discover their potential and find passion in programming, then I’ll know my mission with CTRL Code is fulfilled.
Therefore, "Bytes of Insight" is more than just a blog—it's a tribute to the boundless potential of numerous kids, waiting to be unlocked with a single cursor. Here, I’ll share takes, insights, and practical advice learned from others in the field of Computer Science!
Whether you're a seasoned programmer or a curious beginner, there's something here for you! From coding tutorials to reflections on the impact of technology on society: Join me as I delve into the vast world of Computer Science, one byte at a time!
Keep Coding,
Mary
